PATIENT FEEDBACK
My
wife and I have both been patients of Howard Shrimpton for
almost 30 years and during this time he has treated us in
a highly professional and sympathetic manner.
Given the problems with our teeth over the years, we are
probably his most challenging patients.
We consider his dentistry to be of the highest standard
and our superb crowns and bridges are testament to this.
We are both apprehensive patients. However, Howard’s
reassuring manner and simple explanations during treatment
soon puts one at ease. We have no hesitation in recommending
the Practice.
My
fear of visiting a dentist was completely cured 25 years
ago when, at the age of 35, I registered with Mr. Shrimpton.
This was also an introduction to a dentist for my two children
who remain with this Practice.
Following discussion and choice, a considerably complex
treatment ensued for myself, with maximum care and minimum
discomfort. I therefore have no hesitation in recommending
the Practice to everyone, particularly if nervousness is
causing a problem.
I
have been a patient of Howard Shrimpton for (?20 years, can’t
remember!) and, as one might expect for someone who is now
87, I have had to face the concerns of the elderly and the
thought of the loss of one’s teeth.
I have now had dentures provided, both upper and lower,
but some of my own teeth still survive. On occasions
when I have been concerned at the loss of another tooth I
have always been confident that Howard Shrimpton will save
what he can, will fit comfortable dentures, and that the
quality of my life will not be reduced.
It has been a great comfort to know that I have a gentle,
competent and caring dentist when I need one.
Growing
up in the post war years was not a time to be introduced
to the dentist, especially if you were somewhat faint-hearted. It
seemed that teeth extraction was another form of bloodletting. The “tools” were
archaic, and almost torturous. Nothing but basic repairs
and extractions seemed to be on offer. It is therefore
not surprising that I, and many of my generation grew up
fearful of the dentist’s chair. However, in spite of
this, dentist visits were never curtailed but I was never
quite happy with the results. All I craved was “a
nice smile”.
This was about to change. I had found Mr Shrimpton
!
With his great skill and understanding, my dream came true. Plus,
the best part, the trauma of dental work has also become
a thing of the past. All the most modern methods and
technology became available. “Fast foods” may
have health warnings; fast dentist drills are a must. There
is no comparison to those bad old days. Every possible
aid is made available. I was never allowed to become
distressed in any way. To be offered sedation so that
three hours in the chair seemed like minutes was an amazing
experience. Being kept informed of the proceedings,
so that there were no nasty surprises, or shocks certainly
helped me. It is not always the case that ignorance
is bliss!
With the confidence I built with every appointment and the
joy of seeing the “smile” improve, my visits
became a pleasure. Now, years on, Mr Shrimpton’s
Practice still remains a source of wonder. Still new
and patient-friendly gadgets etc. are introduced. His
team give immense support . The ambience and facilities are “simply
the best” The “check up” appointment
is no longer a thing to dread!!!!
After
years of unsatisfactory NHS treatment with disappointing
results, I was recommended by a friend to go to Howard Shrimpton.
Like most people, I had always dreaded going to the dentist.
The last straw was losing a tooth because of poor treatment.
I made the change to Howard Shrimpton’s Practice some
15 years ago. On my very first visit, he cleverly repaired
a chipped front tooth that had been ignored by other dentists
for thirty years! He went on to put my teeth in an
excellent state of repair – with minimal discomfort.
It was almost bliss from the very first visit. I received
brilliant treatment and was made to feel entirely reassured
and confident.
I only wish I had known of his Practice before!
